It happend two weeks ago in Cincy3 Cyclo -cross Festival in Ohio, Tim Johnson (
Cannondale - Cyclocrossworld.com ) and his teammate Ryan Trebon won all
three races . Johnson
won the marquee event C1 , Kings CX race of the night , and then
surprised Jeremy Powers ( Rapha -Focus ) the next day at Harbin Park
with a late race attack , which earned him his second consecutive win in
the end week . Trebon
held in the push for Louisville next weekend , winning the event C1 on
the first day of racing at the Derby City Cup , which was being
sponsored by the Fund mud Johnson .
He
does not like to call it a comeback, but after a few lean years ,
Johnson feels that eventually reach an equilibrium , and winning formula
for cyclocross season . When
he left the professional peloton road to focus on cyclo-cross , Johnson
found it difficult to replace the intensity that he achieved during the
competition on the road. Riding
pace in front of the peloton , driving breaks , and running all the
major stage races in the United States for ten years provided a level of
training and skill that Johnson was , at first , difficult to replicate
.
Johnson
now uses a mix of road racing , mountain biking, group , and even
fondos , to prepare every season , but had time to isolate the problem .
" I really did not know what was missing ," said Johnson on energy gave the pro peloton . "
I miss that part of the road running hard , and I think my results "
cruz missed it , but I think I did a good job of getting back into some
kind of balance. I feel like when ' cross season does start, I 'm ready for it . "
Johnson
is a busy man , and immediately after his victory in Harbin Park flew
to Colorado for the meetings of the Committee USAC Cyclo -cross . As
one of the representatives of the athletic committee , Johnson is an
influential voice in determining the direction of the U.S. cyclo-cross .
Although
the committee is still working on its strategy , the main interest of
Johnson is to continue growing development rider, with a focus on junior
, U23 , and women . After
your trip midweek Johnson was optimistic about the direction that the
committee was going , and I felt I was about to fill the leadership void
left by the UCI .
"
We have a lot of things we need to do in the United States to further
develop our system of cyclo-cross , and our brand of cyclo-cross . Going
to Belgium is not the only way you will be successful in ' cross, or that America will be successful , "said Johnson . "
We have a lot of potential in America to do ' through our own and
develop it . Guess which is the fastest growing segment of USAC for a
reason , and we need to take advantage of that . "
Johnson
's commitment to the development knight was evident in the Derby City
Cup , where his Fund program Lama participated as one of the title
sponsors . After
hosting Worlds last February , the fate of the Derby City Cup was in
doubt until Johnson Fund and the mud came in September last year to help
you stay on schedule .
According
to promoter Joe Czerwonka , the involvement of Johnson helped spark
interest among other sponsors who believed in the mission of the Fund
mud. Fulfilling
his belief in the reduction of entry barriers for younger riders , the
Fund Mud allowed all juniors to run free in all categories . As one of the few two days UCI Junior races in the country , was an important event .
"
I remember what it was like to go from juniors under 23 . There are a
million reasons to stop walking . School, work , girlfriend, boyfriend ,
car trouble , what ever ," said Johnson . "
I know for me and my development , I had a few years I go to worlds and
get place 52 or 56 . U23 How I got into the sport because I had a good
support system . Know that there are children out there which
do not necessarily have the system , the little help that the Fund mud
can give is important at the moment , and I am proud that we are able to
give. "
Johnson
did not finish on the podium in Derby City Cup , but he is scheduled to
return to the Jingle Cross , where he won two of three races last year .
As
Johnson moves on compost Cannondale - Cyclocrossworld.com in Derby City
Cup , playing with the mechanics of fighting , and teasing passersby as
Mark Legg Compton , looks like he found the camaraderie that he left
behind as a road racer .
